Information About Class

Mrs. Klipstein's class is a structured, nurturing environment that focuses on each students' individual needs.  The subjects of Language Arts, Literature, Math, Social Studies, and Science are taught.  There is also a resource period for student support.

Class guidelines

Homework - Assigned homework will be posted in class and on this web page on a daily basis.  Students are required to fill out their assignment notebook independently and obtain a teacher signature.

Late Work - A late assignment will result in a 10% reduction of the assigned grade.  An academic accountability sheet will need to be filled out.  The assignment and a parent signature on the academic accountability sheet must be returned the next school day or the student must stay after school for an academic detention.  Failure to attend the academic detention will result in a behavioral detention.

Progress - Parents may check student progress through the internet.  Grades will be updated over the weekend and the most current and accurate grade can be found each Monday.  For those students that do not have internet access at home, a progress sheet will be sent home every other week on Monday.

Point System - Students use daily point / goal sheets where they receive point for making goals on a daily basis.  They set two goals at the beginning of each week and one long term goal every quarter.  If these goals are met, students receive points as their reward.  Each point is worth a classroom dollar.  Classroom dollars can be spent to buy various incentives.  Donations of these incentives are welcome.

About Mrs. Klipstein

I graduated from Northern Illinois University in May of 1994 with a B.S. in Education.  My teaching career started at Belvidere High School where I taught for two years. Since fall of 1996 I have been teaching special education at Middle School North.  Over my years at North I have covered all grade levels and curriculums and have coached Orchesis, Soccer, Track and Cross-Country.  To further my education, I completed my masters and graduated with a M.A. in Teaching and Leadership from Saint Xavier University in May of 2003.  Since then I have become a wife and a mother and have been able to focus my teaching on eighth grade special education and continue to coach cross-country.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, sports (Bears, Blackhawks and White Sox), my pets (2 cats and a dog) and spending time with my husband and daughter.
